May 2016
May is a month that is filled with feminine energy. The trees are leafing out, my perennials are all peeking their heads above the soil, the birds are nest building, singing and egg laying, my friends with sheep are lambing. There is an enormous amount of energy and growth bursting forth in the natural world. We celebrate Mothers Day, International day of the Midwife and Naturopathic Medicine Week in May.
At Barefoot Health this month we are celebrating women’s health –
- with our exciting 7 part Menopositive webinar series,
- with our RMT Adrianne now offering postpartum massage welcoming newborn babies right up on the table with their moms and with
- our continued community engagement offering free support for breastfeeding moms
- women diagnosed with endometriosis.
- We are also hosting and teaching a course for doula’s and midwives about supporting breastfeeding in the early newborn stage.
May is also the month that we celebrate Naturopathic Medicine here at Barefoot Health. 2015 was an important year for our profession in Ontario as we entered regulation under the Regulated Health Professionals Act and with that we achieved prescription rights, rights to order lab work for you, referral rights and a seat at the table with other primary health care providers in Ontario. In 2016 we look forward to the continued growth and challenges regulation brings.
More than the political and regulatory steps Naturopathic Medicine took this year Dr. Park and I want to celebrate with you the successes you have had incorporating Naturopathic Medicine into your lives. So much of what we work with when we work with patients is laying the ground work for good health, hands-on teaching with our patients about taking care of their bodies and regaining balance in their lives. We deeply hope that you have felt empowered in the hard work you do every day to maintain your health. We are both so honoured to share your journey to health with you. You inspire us and are the reason we come into work each day!
Enjoy May and the surge of energy in nature. Play in the dirt, plant, picnic, walk Barefoot in the grass, kiss your mom, hug your midwife, celebrate growth and healing.
Yours in vibrant health
